Two miles west of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, this resort with a thatched roof and African artifacts features its own 33-acre savannah on which exotic animals graze.
It’s Africa in the middle of Disney at this unique resort where guests can swim in a pool not far from giraffes and tiny gazelles, and watch antelope roam from tall lobby windows.
This unique resort is reminiscent of a wildlife-reserve lodge on the African savannah. Arriving guests are greeted in a three-story lobby with a crackling fireplace, hand-carved wood furniture, and authentic African artifacts. As the sun sets, two outdoor patios flanking the lobby provide close-up views of exotic animals, including giraffes, ostriches, impalas, and zebras.
Folks also gather at the large zero-entry pool; its gently sloping entrance is handy for young children and guests who don’t have full mobility. A 67-foot-long slide zips swimmers into the center with a splash. There’s also a children’s pool, 24-hour playground, game arcade, and two spa tubs on site.
Supervised children's activities take place at Simba’s CubhouseFitness Center has Cybex exercise equipment, treadmills, stationary bikes, and free weights as well as steam rooms and saunas. (surcharge applies), and guests of all ages can venture off on a cultural safari or watch the animals roaming about the savannah.
