International Drive. Overview.
International Drive is the main strip where you need to stay to be central to the world’s best theme parks and attractions. It was created in the 1960s so tourists could drive up to a Marriot Hotel. Martin Marietta owned Orlando Central Business Park. Once Walt Disney World Resort opened in 1971 he decided to build a way through the business park along Interstate 4.
International Drive runs to Prime Outlets at the North Point and Southwards past the beeline. British tourists in particular like it, partly because the hotels vary in price from affordable to luxury. It consists of four lanes of two in each direction, from its North end to Pointe Plaza Drive and between North and South intersections with Westwood Boulevard.
The North end of I-Drive runs South and South West towards Walt Disney World. The fun and useful I-Ride trolley runs along most of I-Drive and is good for tourists impatiently wanting to reach Orlando attractions. Apart from the nearby Disney World Attractions it offers its own delightful restaurants, eateries, theatres, and shopping malls. The sun lights it by day and the bright lights at night.
