Miami Beach. Overview.
Miami Beach still thrives on the glamorous reputation Hollywood stars gave it in the 1950s. It’s most exciting area is South Beach so it really has to be included when you research Miami Beach, which also includes North Miami Beach. Miami Beach is as much known for its night life as its amazing beautiful beaches. The Art Deco Hotels along Ocean Drive is the image which most us have in our mind’s eye when we think of Miami. The throng of Latinos and Cubans contribute enormously to Miami Beach’s buzz and success. There is a wide space for joggers along Miami Beach with the ocean shimmering beside it called the Broadwalk.
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin ‘The Rat Pack Miami’ as they were known as, made Miami Beach the hip place to be in the 1960s as they performed in the Fontainbleu, The Marco Polo and other hotels or clubs. Aspects of Miami Beach do hark back to the 1950s and 1960s. Norman Isle and Ocean Terrace to name but one block of Miami Beach Apartments, are typical of that time. There are so many Spanish and Caribbean influences around Miami Beach in the restaurants, the architecture and the entertainment.
