This casual, 200 acre resort, with five brightly coloured island villages inspired by the Caribbean, is but a mile from Epcot and transport to all Disney theme parks is free.
The colourful villages are themed in five Caribbean styles named after the Caribbean islands of Trinidad, Martinique, Barbados, Aruba, and Jamaica. Each of the villages is made up of clusters of two-story buildings that blend cool pastel walls, white-wood railings, and vividly coloured metal roofs. Each village has its own swimming pool and playground, and offers chaise lounges, cabanas (small cabin), and hammocks for relaxing on the white-sand shore of Barefoot Bay. Old Port Royale has a Spanish fortress themed pool with a slide as well as dining, and shopping.
You can rent boats or bikes and use the 1.4-mile promenade around the lake for biking, walking, or (should you take leave of your senses!) jogging. Parrot Cay Island in the middle of the lake features narrow paths with parrots akimbo, gazebos, a children’s playground, and a picnic area.
Bright, airy rooms with ceiling fans and air conditioning are comfortable and well maintained. Potted plants, pale-wood furnishings, and island prints are in keeping with the tropical theme.
Stay here and you’re eligible for Disney’s Magical Express Service, which involves coaches that take you from Orlando International Airport to your Disney Resort hotel, while Disney picks up your bags and takes them straight to your room (not Mr Disney himself of course, that would be weird). When your holiday is over you and your bags are whisked from the Disney Resort hotel back to the airport.

Ocean Florida Says
Does the name ‘Old Port Royale’ sound familiar? It’s the name of the pool that’s themed Spanish fortress style, and - you might recall that Port Royale is the setting for both the movie and the Magic Kingdom Park ride ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’
