So named because of the gold salvaged from shipwrecks off its coastline, the Gold Coast has over 60 miles of Atlantic shoreline running from Jupiter in Palm Beach County down to Fort Lauderdale. Aside from Fort Lauderdale, one of the more well-known areas of the Gold Coast is Palm Beach.
Stretching for about 60 miles down Florida's southeast coast from luxurious Palm Beach in the north, to Miami Beach in the South, lies a string of tropical, sunny, and sandy beach resorts collectively known as the Gold Coast. The larger cities along the coast are: West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and the confusingly named ‘Hollywood’. There’s a laid-back atmosphere, constantly warm and sunny weather (well, almost constant), and hundreds of sophisticated shopping malls.
The most exciting attraction on the Gold Coast is the Kennedy Space Center, that's why the Gold Coast is sometimes referred to as the Space Coast. You can tour launch pads, experience the Apollo moon launch in an authentic simulation, and - if you're lucky - even see a real satellite hop off into space. There are some great beaches too.
