Clearwater Beach. Overview.
The centre of Clearwater Beach is Pier 60 where the Memorial Causeway, the S. Gulfview Boulevard and Mandalay Avenue meet. It is a small island about an hour from St Petersburg. Although the buildings on the half mile beach front are ordinary the beach itself is utterly beautiful morning noon and particularly at sunset like most Gulf Coast resorts. When the suntanning becomes overheated there is always kayaking, shelling, bicycling and volley ball on the beach. The beaches are family friendly and there is plenty of opportunity for dolphin watching, cruises, waterskiing and more water activities.
There are festivals, concerts and children’s activities going on and parades on Independence Day. There are many choices for accommodation from inexpensive to expensive. The restaurants and cafes are varied with Frenchy’s having the edge. The Southern end of the Clearwater to Tarpon Springs section of the Pinellas Trail can be picked up if you ride a bicycle along the trail from the beginning St Petersburg to Tarpon Springs.
