Key Largo. Overview.
Key Largo is more low ‘key’ than Key West and is the biggest of the Keys. It was made famous by the film The African Queen starring Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. John Huston made the film with the title Key Largo starring Lauren Bacall. It has more places to dive from nowadays than anywhere else in the Keys. The underwater reefs are a great draw for divers. Restaurants and cafes have good variety of tastes on offer from sushi to bacon sandwiches to lobster and seafood. Tavernier which is south of Key Largo just a short distance away, has unusual buildings and a nature reserve. The tiny deserted islands off Key Largo make a brilliant day out in a boat. There are many tours on the ocean and around the island is suitable for all the family.
